Amy McHugh
AMY MCHUGH is a native of Wisconsin. She received a BS Degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a major in Interior Design and a minor in Art. Initial employment involved residential design which subsequently migrated to the leather industry. Most of her career involved chemical sales, product development, formulating finish systems and creating new effects on leather for fashion, automotive and furniture industries. She relocated to North Carolina in 1992 where her focus was creating new effects on leather for the furniture industry. Her employment required world wide travel until her retirement in 2011.
Her education, employment and artwork has been about choreographing color, design, light and texture. Amy always had an interest in art, but did not pursue painting seriously until she retired. She currently spends her time attending workshops locally and abroad. Most of Amy's work is inspired by nature. She enjoys experimenting with new techniques and mediums which allows her to grow as an artist. Her mediums of choice are oils, oil and cold wax, acrylics, alcohol inks, and mixed media. Her skill and talent has been rewarded with recognition in regional art competitions. She is a member of Piedmont Painters and Trade Alley Art Gallery.
