Chad Soden

I am a small batch studio potter that has been playing in clay for a little over 20 years. I love nature, wildlife and the outdoors and it is often reflected in my work. I have always been drawn to the predictably unpredictable nature of the Raku process. I fire the majority of my work in the Western Raku style. The pieces are quickly removed from the Kiln at around 1800 degrees F and paced in a metal container filled with organic material. The resulting combustion creates unusual, unique and one of a kind results. I often try to incorporate copper wire, copper mesh, and hand carving to create unique, textural and one of a kind surfaces.
